Shrink wrap can also have 'unusual' applications in a variety of projects.
For example, in the film industry, shrink wrap can be used for wall and ceiling panels using white or clear shrink wrap which can then painted. End results have not only shown this technique to be highly effective, but results in significant time and cost savings.
Shrink wrap has also been used in cases where fragile equipment has had to be heli- lifted on to a site and the equipment too fragile to withstand the down draft from the helicopter rotors. Wrapping the equipment in Shrink wrap solved the problem!

A Wide variety of Colours

Blue is generally used in storage applications in colder environments as the blue film absorbs the heat of the sun which promotes air circulation and reduces condensation problems within the cover.
White shrink wrap reflects the heat of the sun keeping the inside of the cover cool. As a result items being shipped are generally wrapped in white film.
Clear film is usually only used when it is necessary to see the items under the wrap

Intercept Technology resin was invented by Lucent Technologies Bell Labs Innovation to prevent the spread of corrosion and electro-static discharge damage. Intercept has proven so effective that reactive polymer now is the only Corrosion, Moisture Barrier, and ESD Protective Packaging system certified by use for Lucent's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tier suppliers).
Intercept Technology resin incorporates a high surface area reactive copper into the plastic polymer backbone. The copper will not come out of the plastic, as verified by Rolls Royce PLC in its acid extraction test. In fact, the copper is so inextricably bound in the Intercept resin, it is RoHS Compliant.
Shrink wrap also provides an ideal solution to the problem of keeping items 'as new' during shipping. It keeps out not only dirt, bugs, and the general grime from shipping, whether by sea or road, but also helps prevent corrosion when 'Intercept Technology' is used. For very valuable items such as helicopters shrink wrap is ideal when shipping by road or sea, as not only is the 'paint job' protected but corrosive salt is kept out sensitive electronics.
HOW IT WORKS
Intercept works by scavenging the corrosive gases (ozone, hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide) within the packaging envelope that cause corrosion and by preventing more corrosive gases from penetrating the plastic.
Intercept also protects articles from the corrosive gases (formic acid, acetic acid, and aldehydes) released by wood crating, corrugate, laminates, adhesives, and other packaging materials. Thus Intercept now is being specified as a wood crate inside liner to protect articles stored within.
Further, Intercept is reusable - items can be removed from and put into an Intercept bag a considerable number of times generally limited only by the mechanical strength of the container, or until the Intercept resin is used up
NASA SPACE FLIGHT CERTIFIED
Intercept Technology is NASA space flight certified; and cleaner than clean room paper. For shelf-life protection, Lucent Technologies has tested Intercept for ozone elimination and has calculated a minimum 15 years of protection, under normal atmospheric conditions, per mil of resin. Intercept does not off-gas and can not contaminate the surface of items. Intercept is NOT a VCI, and unlike VCI, Intercept works longer, better, safer, in any humidity or temperature, and cannot damage equipment or harm yours or your customers' workers.
