SHRINK WRAP INFORMATION

The shrink wrap used by EPC is a very high quality linear low density polyethylene film containing Ultra Violet inhibitors (UVI). Under heating the film shrinks by 25% to 30% creating a glove tight fit around the item it is protecting.

SHRINK WRAP COLORS
The film is available in white, blue and clear.

Blue is generally used in storage applications in colder environments as the blue film absorbs the heat of the sun which promotes air circulation and reduces condensation problems within the cover.

White shrink wrap reflects the heat of the sun keeping the inside of the cover cool. As a result items being shipped are generally wrapped in white film. Clear film is usually only used when it is necessary to see the items under the wrap.

SHRINK WRAP WEIGHT
The shrink wrap is available in 6mil and 7 mil thicknesses. Heavier film (9mil & 12mil) is also available on special order.

SHRINK WRAP SIZE
The shrink wrap is available in widths from 14 to 40 feet and in lengths from 85 to 200 feet.

ANTI CORROSION SHRINK WRAP

SHRINK WRAP APPLICATIONS

Applications can be divided into containment, storage and shipping for industrial, marine and aircraft projects, creative projects as for the movies and there are probably others!!

CONTAINMENT
Shrink Wrap can be used either to keep "stuff" in (sand blasting, sanding, paint spraying, asbestos removal, dust etc...) or keep "stuff" out (rain, snow, salt, dirt, wind, corrosive gases (Use Intercept film only), UV etc...).

Temporary shelters for on site maintenance, repairs or construction under scaffolding, 2x4, PVC pipe supported shrink wrap can be continued in adverse weather conditions, summer or winter. Emergency covers or shelters when the weather or prying eyes have to be kept out can be installed quickly and cost effectively.

Containment using shrink wrap is generally far more effective than the commonly used tarps as it lasts longer, and stands up much better to adverse weather conditions which as a result, is more cost effective.

STORAGE
Shrink wrap is ideal for short or long term storage applications. Whether for Marine, Aircraft or Industrial applications, it enables items to be stored for long periods outside so freeing up expensive inside space. It is an deal solution for winter or long term storage or even mothballing items of all sizes. To help prevent corrosion from corrosive gases and the off gassing of wooden pallets Intercept Technology should be used. The life of the shrink wrap(due to UV degradation) can be extended significantly by using the "Shrink Wrap Coating system". (Contact EPC for more details)

In marine applications tarpaulins are frequently used but require continuous attention due to rain, wind and UV damage, which results in puddling, snow build ups. The loose tarpaulin that results then damages the item it was supposed to protect! Shrink Wrap removes these problems. Access for inspection to the inside of the cover can also be provided by the use of zipper doors.

SHIPPING
Shrink wrap also provides an ideal solution to the problem of keeping items 'as new' during shipping. It keeps out not only dirt, bugs, and the general grime from shipping, whether by sea or road, but also helps prevent corrosion when 'Intercept Technology' is used. For very valuable items such as helicopters shrink wrap is ideal when shipping by road or sea, as not only is the 'paint job' protected but corrosive salt is kept out sensitive electronics.

CREATIVE PROJECTS
Shrink wrap can also have 'unusual' applications in a variety of projects.

For example, in the film industry, shrink wrap can be used for wall and ceiling panels using white or clear shrink wrap which can then painted. End results have not only shown this technique to be highly effective, but results in significant time and cost savings.

Shrink wrap has also been used in cases where fragile equipment has had to be heli- lifted on to a site and the equipment too fragile to withstand the down draft from the helicopter rotors. Wrapping the equipment in Shrink wrap solved the problem!

In situations where a barrier is required (containment) it is most effective due to the ease with which the barrier can constructed.

IN CONCLUSION shrink wrap is highly cost effective method of protecting an investment whether it's in a boat, aircraft or industrial equipment.
